Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9
He was an extraordinarily rational and efficient man.
Those were especially valuable qualities for surviving in a city like Sanctum.
John Priest.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
After all, rationality consisted of seeking answers, while efficiency was like a compass that allowed one to find the fastest path toward them.
Nor did he depend on luck.
John did not let himself be carried away by emotions.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
All his actions were based on rigorous calculations and data analysis. audit Gathering information, calculating probabilities, devising methods to increase those probabilities, and putting them into practice.
Therefore, he never acted impulsively.
And that day should have been no different.
After repeating that process over and over again, he had eventually become Vortex’s best Fixer.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Ash Blade.
However, things had not gone as he expected.
And not just any member of Foundation, but Kiss Valentine, one of its most outstanding agents.
That humanoid with such a peculiar name had managed to involve Foundation in the conflict.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
That was why John had modified his plan.
That seemed much more beneficial to Vortex.
Would it not be more convenient to keep Team Bladez occupied and take advantage of that opportunity to attack Kiss?
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Unforeseen variables kept appearing one after another.
However, that had not worked either.
Because Team Bladez, which was supposedly supposed to be in the Ghost Tower, had unexpectedly appeared on the battlefield.
As a result, the encirclement he had prepared so carefully ended up being destroyed, forcing him to continue that chaotic and prolonged pursuit.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
That was why John modified his plan once again.
And Ash was always involved in them.
First, he would use his subordinates to wear down the enemy as much as possible.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
The analysis was already complete.
Although that humanoid possessed extraordinary strength, to the point of being incomprehensible, he was still a swordsman.
Then, when the decisive moment arrived, he would personally appear to eliminate Ash, the source of all those variables.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
John was convinced that he was the perfect opponent for that old-fashioned-looking swordsman.
All he had to do was prevent him from getting close.
And, fortunately, John had a Repulsor Jetpack that guaranteed him overwhelming mobility.
He was his natural enemy.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Because, to John, Ash was the very personification of an unpredictable variable.
He even experienced a pleasant sense of relief, as though a tooth that had been causing him pain for a long time had just been extracted.
The moment had finally arrived to put an end to all that commotion.
After all, had Ash not shown signs of bewilderment?

The scene unfolding before his eyes seemed to mock all the rationality and logic he had cultivated throughout his life.

Eight afterimages adorned the air.
What the hell was that supposed to be?
“What the hell is this……?”
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
He could not understand it.
Nor could he believe what he was seeing with his own eyes.
He could not believe the data he was receiving.
Disbelief appeared in John’s eyes behind his golden glasses.

That was not a simple unforeseen variable or a margin of error.
John stared blankly at those images for a few moments.
It was more like some kind of supernatural phenomenon.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
His cybernetic eyes began rapidly examining the afterimages suspended in the air.
‘Calm down. accent I have to calm down. shadow I simply haven’t analyzed it yet.’
However, he soon shook his head and suppressed the numerous emotions beginning to arise within him.
‘An illusion? timber In that case, could it be a sensory disturbance caused by an enormous energy field? crystal Yes. advance That possibility seems quite reasonable.’
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Then he discovered something else.
He deliberately ignored the minor interference and glitches appearing in his cybernetic eyes and concentrated all his attention on that strange phenomenon.
‘……An electromagnetic field. matrix This is an electromagnetic field. harbor He’s covered a limited area with his own electromagnetic field. meadow How the hell is something like that possible? atomic No, first of all, I have to get out of here……’
Even his scanning sensors were registering irregular errors.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Just then.
— Very well. timber This is the first step.
At the same time, a bolt of blue lightning descended from one of the afterimages above John’s head.
Ash’s electronic voice echoed softly from different directions, as though his words were reverberating throughout the entire place.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
That was not an illusion.
John flinched and hurriedly tried to raise his pistol, but the lightning had already passed beside him.
However, the problem was that it had not merely passed by.
It was something real, overflowing with unmistakable fighting intent.

Kraaa-boom!

The air erupted with a deafening roar, and John’s body suddenly tilted to one side.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Only then did he make out his Cyberware arm, which had been cleanly severed and was falling toward the ground.
The place where his left arm should have been was completely empty.
John did not take long to discover the answer.
But why would his center of gravity suddenly change?
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
He felt no pain.
After all, his body was composed of mechanical components, so that was completely natural.
How the hell had it happened?
However, when had it been cut off?
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
John’s gaze, obscured by interference, frantically swept across his surroundings.
It was enough to instill in him a terror far greater than any physical pain.
That revelation sent a chill down his spine.
He had not even managed to perceive the attack.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
The afterimages continued occupying exactly the same positions.
Or perhaps one of those afterimages was actually Ash.
However, Ash was nowhere to be seen.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Dangerous.
That was John’s efficient and rational decision.
‘Retreat. galaxy I have to retreat!’
That strange technique, whose true nature he did not know, was extremely dangerous.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
After all, what was the point of allowing himself to be caught by a technique he did not even understand?
Once he had organized his thoughts, John immediately increased his Jetpack’s power to the maximum.
The correct course of action would be to increase the distance first and calmly search for a way to counter that phenomenon.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
No matter which direction he moved, the eight afterimages surrounding him moved in exactly the same direction.
However, something strange happened.

Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Without the slightest margin of error.
Just as John’s face began contorting into an indescribable expression.
He could not shake them off.
It was as though he were locked inside a prison.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
This time, the attack came from an afterimage positioned behind him.
— Do you still believe my sword cannot reach you?
Ash’s second step descended upon him.
— What do you think?
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
One of his Jetpack’s thrusters was pierced, scattering metallic fragments in every direction.
Crunch!
A blue flash erupted violently and struck his back.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
A chilling fear began to take hold of him.
As a result, the flight balance that had been perfect until then abruptly collapsed, and John’s body began swaying dangerously in the air.
“Grrr……!”
The fear that, if this continued, he really might die.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
The freezing bullets froze the air.
As though he were desperately fighting to survive, he raised his only remaining arm and began firing indiscriminately at the afterimages surrounding him.
That sensation slowly began consuming his rationality.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
And the cluster projectiles indiscriminately pierced the tunnel walls.
However, none of those attacks managed to hit Ash.
The explosive bullets unleashed violent bursts of flame.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
They were nothing more than the result of intensely compressed electromagnetic fields and electrical discharges.
Not a single one.
After all, John was firing only at afterimages.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
However, John had already completely lost his ability to reason.
He continued pulling the triggers, reloading his weapons, and firing absolutely everything he had.
“Die! beacon Die!”
Even when his projectiles struck Vortex’s formation and began injuring his own allies, John did not stop.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Just then.
No.
He was no longer capable of stopping.

One of the afterimages, which appeared to be executing the Taiqing Dragon Slaying Sword in midair, swiftly glided toward John and severed his right leg.
Ash’s afterimages moved again.

Completely overcome by terror, he shouted toward Vortex’s formation.
In the blink of an eye, John had lost both arms and his right leg.
And the fifth step took even his right arm, which continued desperately pulling the trigger.
The fourth step, which followed immediately afterward, slashed open his abdomen.

However, nobody responded to his orders.
After all, another veritable hell was unfolding below.

Like a whirlwind of black blades, the three swordsmen swept through the enemy vehicles.
Perhaps because of what had happened to Reto.
Anna, Zero, and Levina were frantically moving across Vortex’s Hovercraft, attacking their enemies with tremendous ferocity.

The Drone Swarm Kiss had deployed rose above the battlefield and plunged toward Vortex’s formation, producing high-pitched whistles as it tore through the air.
Whiiiiiir!
After reorganizing into a combat formation, their forces launched a general counterattack under Kiss’s leadership.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
“This…… It can’t be……”
Explosions and flashes erupted everywhere.
And among them, three swords swept across the battlefield, destroying everything they encountered.
Although Vortex had deployed forces considerably superior in number, its soldiers began falling without offering practically any resistance against that terrifying offensive.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Not a single person.
Just then.
There were no soldiers left who could help him.
The afterimage in front of John began to split open, as though it were being torn apart from within.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
Faced with that completely unreal scene, John’s eyes began trembling violently.
And Ash appeared amid that blue glow.
Using the very air as a foothold.
Walking through the sky.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
“You really…… Are you walking through the sky……?”
Finally, he murmured as though he had completely lost his mind.
Ash slowly raised the blade of his sword.
Then he spoke a few words in his calm electronic voice.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
“Did I not tell you? wizard I can walk about eight steps.”
John’s head, his face still contorted by a mixture of disbelief and terror, was sent flying into the air before plummeting toward the ground.
He had barely finished speaking when Ash’s figure passed beside John like a fleeting shadow.
Slash.

Ash simply remained standing in the air, contemplating that scene for a few moments.
Then it began rolling somewhere along the vast tunnel of the Fox’s Den.

After all, he had remained suspended in the air, right in the center of the storm of lightning created by Ash.
Upon witnessing it, the Vortex soldiers involuntarily swallowed.
John’s death was extraordinarily conspicuous.
That horrifying scene, in which a man who had lost both arms and his right leg floated in the air before ultimately being decapitated.

Someone was the first to turn his vehicle around.
Then he began fleeing without looking back.
Their leader, John Priest, was dead.
And he had died at the hands of a mysterious power that none of them could comprehend.

With their morale completely shattered, Vortex’s forces no longer had any intention of continuing to fight.
But how the hell were they supposed to fight something like that?
That spread like an epidemic.
After all, a battle was a confrontation between human beings.

Foundation did not bother pursuing them.

The deafening explosions.
The gunfire that had echoed incessantly.
Thanks to that, a brief silence descended upon the Fox’s Den.

A humanoid stood there.
Then, as though they had reached a silent agreement, everyone raised their gaze upward.
Everything stopped.

Ash stood upright in the center of eight trails of lightning that cut through the air, serenely contemplating the chaos spreading beneath his feet.
At the same time, the eight afterimages gradually faded away.
Finally, when the last spark dispersed into the air, Ash’s body began to descend slowly.
The blue electrical arcs enveloping his body slowly began to weaken.

As though coming to welcome him, several black shadows began gathering around him.
Zero, Anna, and Levina.
The three swordsmen, permeated with the smell of blood and gunpowder, took their places behind Ash without the slightest hesitation.
That made the scene seem even more unreal.
Translation of Cyberpunk Chivalry - Chapter 83: EP.3 BLADE STORM 9 by Indra Translations.
However, the presence they exuded seemed to grow increasingly imposing.
None of them uttered a single word.
Just then.
Thus, the swordsmen dressed in exploration suits as black as night gathered once again on the Revenant’s roof.

One of Foundation’s armored vehicles traveling alongside the Revenant also sounded its horn.
That became a kind of signal.

Finally, all the surviving vehicles began sounding their horns at the same time.
And the one behind it.
Dozens of steel armored vehicles ended up surrounding the Revenant while continuing to emit that thunderous roar.
