Chapter 278: Earth (1)
It’s winter again. We were on vacation.
The “War of the Sun,” which began last winter, feels as if it happened only a few days ago, and before I realized it, the next winter had already arrived.
A lot happened during that time.
First, I obtained the permission of all the fathers- and mothers-in-law, and I secured approval to marry Marie, Alisha, Lunia, Hwaran, Estelle, Miruam, and Erin.
Well, it wasn’t “complete” permission. Half of it was forced, part of it I acted without permission, and I even had to undo a coup d’état.
Ha…
I’ll surely spend my whole life being dragged around by them.
Sun Danann? Divine King Ard Ri? What good is all that to me?
Carrying a thousand grand titles doesn’t change the fact that right now I’m a man devoted to taking care of my future wives.
“Corin little brother~ softer.”
“Y-yes…”
I loosen the strength in the arm with which I was massaging a pair of soft soles.
And what am I doing right now?
Attending to the feet of our pink saint lady.
“Ow! I told you soft!”
“Sorry. Did it hurt a lot?”
I stop massaging and gently blow on the area. Estelle smiles in satisfaction.
“Well~ it wasn’t that bad.”
“I’ll do it so it doesn’t hurt, noona.”
Estelle, who graduates from the academy this year, spent almost the entire last semester outside.
Specifically, traveling through the different regions to grant the blessing of the earth.
Following the order of the territories with the highest number of believers in the Unified Church.
Estelle, who possesses the four Danann treasures except for me, was practically the Danann of Earth.
Like me, she was a case who gained divinity by being recognized by a sacred artifact. With the faith offered to her, she could bestow blessings upon the land.
The result was a “miracle.”
All crops sprouting from the soil were blessed.
Plagues disappeared, crops grew quickly, and those who ate those products gained health.
Said like that, it sounds simple, but the effect was so immense that people revered Estelle even more.
“Did your regional tour go well?”
“Hehe, of course. The agricultural population of the country adores me like a goddess.”
“Good job.”
“Well, that’s one thing, but what was really tough was last night, you know?”
Estelle rubs my cheek with the sole of the foot I was massaging. Of course, I don’t mind.
In fact, when she lifts her foot, her priestly robe opens and reveals the white of her thighs, and that I do like.
“Hehe, do you want me to massage your waist too?”
“Mmm~ yes, I’d love that~”
Estelle lies down shamelessly on the sofa. While I massage her waist, I take the chance to squeeze those mischievous curves of hers. Her expression turns pale.
“T-t-today during the day I’m not doing anything else!”
“Ah, I’m only touching, only touching.”
“Hey! You always say that and the moment I react we end up doing everything!”
“I… I also touch you.”
“You touch me every day—what are you saying! Go touch Mir on the second floor if you want to touch!”
“The truth is, I was already with her this morning.”
“???”
Compared to Estelle, Miruam’s stamina was a bit lower.
I still hadn’t granted her divinity because she was in her grace period, but it was already time to give her something to improve her physical specifications.
“Uuuh… if the believers discover that the King of Gods is such a womanizer, they’ll make you into a joke…”
“It would be like Zeus, maybe.”
“Zeus? That character from the stories of your other world?”
After promising marriage to all of them, I confessed everything about myself.
That I came from a place called Earth.
That this world, which I believed to be a simple game, had in fact brought main players several times.
That after my victory, the world’s salvation or destruction had been decided.
I also told them about my regression, which Erin and Miruam already partially knew.
And of course, everything about Park Sihoo.
“Ah, right, little brother. When is Hwaran coming back?”
“She said today—why?”
“I left her a message. It’s about unifying religions between East and West.”
“Ah…”
Hwaran was currently revered as the Demon Goddess of the Heavenly Demon Sect of the Ten Thousand Eastern Mountains.
The previous Demon Goddess disappeared, and Bi Cheon-Yacha completely absorbed her essence, becoming a figure untouchable even for the empire.
“They say you’re called the Sun God over there, right? Basically you’re the head of the eastern branch of the Unified Church.”
“And over there the one acting as saint is Hwaran, I guess.”
“Exactly!”
Estelle was very interested in expanding the Church. And it wasn’t a problem for me either. We’ll live for many years, so spreading Danann faith in the long term sounds fine.
“One moment, Coriiiin. Don’t put your hand under my clothes!”
“Can’t I?”
–Squeeze, squeeze–
“Mmmf… w-well, just a little…”
Perfect, permission granted. Just as I was about to jump on Estelle, a buzzing filled the room and the space opened.
“Student Corin. I have an urgent matter…”
“…”
“…”
We stared at each other at the worst possible moment. The decades-old spinster’s face turned red, mixed with fury.
“A-a-again…? Are you an animal? Control yourself a little! You’re not even married yet!”
“Ahem… what is it?”
I was just at the hot spot.
Anyway, I straightened my clothes.
“Let’s talk where Erin is.”
In an instant, using spatial displacement, we arrived at the headmistress’s office.
As soon as we arrived, Erin greeted me with a gentle smile.
“Corin, you came??”
“I’m here.”
I approach her, kiss her, and embrace her. She blushes because others are present, but it’s obvious she likes it.
“Our daughter said she had something to say.”
“Hmm? Our daughter?”
“Erin’s daughter is also my daughter.”
Josephine, who was practically Erin’s daughter, and since I would marry Erin, she was also my daughter. That miraculous logic.
The reaction was immediate.
Smack!
“Hey! Hey! Hey!”
Josephine hits me mercilessly with her whip. It doesn’t hurt, but Erin stops her.
“Clara! Why are you hitting the child?”
“Erin… did you not hear what he said?”
“It’s just a joke! Why are you breaking our Corin’s spirit?”
“Erin…”
Trembling, Josephine murmured, “I knew it… daughters stop being daughters once they marry…”
“Haa~ Corin, you get more shameless every day.”
“That’s one of my charms.”
“Anyway. Erin unni, you said it was urgent. Stop touching my husband.”
“Eeh… he’s my husband too, you know?”
Erin was stroking my head, then she cleared her throat.
“Marie went down south for a moment, right? She sent a video orb from there.”
“Video orb?”
So suddenly? What could have happened?
The master took out the orb and we watched it together.
–!!──!!
–──!
“What…?”
Why are they there?
“I think we have to go immediately.”
This looks serious.
***
I hurried to the south.
Thanks to Lady Josephine, it didn’t even take us a minute to arrive.
“Corin!”
At the Dunaleff duke’s mansion, Marie—who had been waiting for us—ran and threw herself into my arms.
“Senior, we saw the video orb.”
“Yes! I thought I should tell you first!”
“What happened?”
If the contents of the video orb were real, it was not something normal.
It was an event capable of shaking the entire world. I couldn’t imagine anything but negative consequences.
“They suddenly appeared in the stable managed by our family. Do you remember it? The goat stable next to one of the mines I put on the wedding dowry list.”
“Ah, yes, I remember.”
There were more than ten mines on that list, so I wasn’t sure which one she meant.
“In a single night they occupied the stable and went down to the village at the foot of the mountain. That place used to be a potato field, but… iiik!”
“H-hey, what’s wrong?”
Marie snorted in fury. It wasn’t common to see her so angry. Had innocent people died?
“They crushed the potato field! Those bastards!”
“Ah…”
“No ah. That field was for planting winter potatoes! This is blasphemy against potatoes!”
“Calm down first… so, what did you do? You didn’t suppress them by bringing troops, right?”
“…I heard what you said, Corin. I gave strict orders to avoid contact as much as possible.”
Marie said that as soon as she saw them, she ordered the immediate evacuation of the population to a nearby fief. Thank goodness.
The fewer people who came into contact with them, the better. First, I needed to go directly and open dialogue.
— BAAAANG!
At that moment it happened. A flying object crossed the sky, emitting a sharp, unmistakable sound.
All eyes followed that object in a straight line.
“C-Corin, little brother, what is that?”
“Metal… flying in the sky?”
“Good heavens.”
It was a fighter jet.
***
At an altitude so high humanity had only reached it within the last hundred years, several voices overlapped over a digital device inside combat cockpits.
“What an incredible landscape.”
— Indeed.
Smirking, two pilots looked at the surface of the earth with their naked eyes.
Inside the cockpit, they ignored their mission as they admired the beauty of the scenery.
Endless fields of potatoes and wheat stretching beyond the horizon. That golden sea was enough to make anyone enthralled.
— It’s strange. It should be midwinter. Why are crops growing?
“It’s a fantasy world. Their crops might be different from ours.”
They didn’t know that the southern plains were so developed in agricultural magic that climate had little influence.
Still, it wasn’t as if they didn’t know this was a fantasy world.
— Pavel 1 from control tower. Respond.
“What is it?”
— The commander asks for a mid-mission report.
“Everything as expected. No enemy air force. It’s clearly a backward world inhabited by primitive natives.”
— That’s a relief. Since this was the world the demon returned to, I was a bit tense.
“There can’t be monsters like that everywhere.”
This world was backward and wild. Pavel 1 Mikhailov, pilot of the newly formed Russian air force, licked his lips as he looked at the other world.
“Heheh, do you think there are elves or dwarves here? I’m curious what they have between their legs.”
— Lucky army guys. They’ll get to loot and have as much fun as they want.
Every encounter between civilizations begins with looting and conquest.
They had come to this world with the clear intention to conquer.
Here there is no Geneva Convention nor human rights. Whoever takes first, wins.
They weren’t going to do something stupid like the Yankees who say “spread democracy.”
Together with the newly risen Chinese Empire, Russia intended to plunder everything this abundant world had to offer.
“They say the princesses of this country are incredibly beautiful. What sounds will they make when a savage throws them on a bed…”
The moment Mikhailov uttered that atrocity—
THUNK!
A chilling vibration shook the jet.
“W-what the hell?”
It was right behind the cockpit.
A bird strike? No—how would a bird collide vertically with a supersonic jet?
— Pavel 1! Pavel 1! Watch your rear!
A desperate alarm burst from the radio—his partner was warning him in terror.
“What… what is—?”
— Hey, you sons of ****. Whose woman were you talking about?
Beyond the cockpit.
On top of the supersonic jet.
Standing, as if defying all logic, there was a man’s face staring directly at him.
His eyes, red like rubies, were pointed straight into the cabin.
“Th-this… what…?”
Before he could say anything, the cockpit was ripped off entirely, and Mikhailov was exposed to the stratospheric wind.
“Wh-what— whaaaat—!”
“What else would it be, idiot? If you don’t want to die, open your parachute. No, I’ll open it for you.”
With pure strength, the man ripped out the pilot along with the seat and deployed the parachute.
The jet, split in half, fell helplessly.
—BOOOOM!
Within seconds, Mikhailov had been shot down.
The other jets dispersed at supersonic speed to gain distance and then turned to attack.
Four fighters.
As they fled—
The man aimed a spear of light at them.
“Wh-what is he trying to—”
“LIIIIIIGHT RAAAAAAY!!!”
— BAAANG!
The air exploded.
The moment he spoke the words, the white spear triggered a sonic boom and shot after the jets.
— BOOM!
The spear pierced one instantly.
The radios erupted in screams.
— Wh-what the hell is that!?
— Pavel 3, what shot you down!?
— Pavel 4! Something’s coming behind us! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!
—BOOOOM!!!
— Shit! Shit, shiiiiit!!
—BOOM BOOM BOOM!!
The four jets were shot down in less than ten seconds.
Watching all of it in real time, Mikhailov stared at the owner of the spear with a pale face.
“A-a… demon…?”
