Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal
No.
The Garden of the Gods was peaceful.
It was boring.
The sound of flowing water.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
But for Heimdal, the God of the Typhoon, that silence was genuine torture.
Everything was a perfectly harmonized paradise.
The sweet aroma of fruit.
A harp playing somewhere.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘How quiet.’
He rested his chin on one hand while swirling a cup filled with nectar.
The golden liquid gently swayed.
At the end of his thoughts, a single figure appeared.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Rag.
— When I climb the tower, the first thing I’ll do is seek out the great ruler of all things, Heimdal.
The guy who had swallowed his typhoon and then had the audacity to propose a deal to him.
That was exactly what he had said.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
However, he hadn’t heard anything about him since then.
After all, he had destroyed an entire Sanctuary and become the owner of Floor 1.
He had guts.
And he had also proven his ability.

After that, the boy had remained as quiet as a dead mouse.
The only thing he had heard was that he had become the owner of Floor 2 thanks to Caligo’s death.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
It was a god dressed in a green robe.
He turned his head.
Someone called him.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“That Seed. abstract Rag, was that his name?”
“What is it?”
Partagos, a supreme-ranked god who ruled over forests and earth.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
The god sat down across from Heimdal.
“Do you really think that guy will make it all the way here, where we are?”
Curiosity and mockery mixed in his eyes.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“You know as well as I do what kind of place this tower is.”
Partagos continued.
Instead of answering, Heimdal took a sip from his cup.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
For a god from the lower floors to ascend, he needed an enormous amount of Prosperity.
The rich became richer and the poor became poorer.
A structural contradiction.
The tower was so stagnant that it had already rotted.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
The problem was that there was practically no way to obtain it.
To increase Prosperity, he had to develop his floor.
And to develop his floor, he needed Nectar.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“There is a limit to what one person can do. legend Even in a thousand years, he won’t get past Floor 20.”
That tiny handful of Nectar they handed out every thirty days?
How was anyone supposed to build structures or create an ecosystem with that?
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Are you supporting him in secret? armor Are you sending him large amounts of Nectar?”
According to him, there was no other explanation for why Heimdal was so calm.
Partagos shot him a suggestive look.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
He shrugged as if the idea were ridiculous.
“And why would I do that?”
Heimdal chuckled.
“…Huh?”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
It wasn’t a lie.
Rag’s affinity had been classified as “Nothing.”
“He’s a guy with 0 affinity for catastrophes. zenith Someone who doesn’t possess even a trace of natural authority. matrix Why would I support him?”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Partagos nodded with a somewhat awkward expression.
“Really? audit Well, I suppose someone with your personality wouldn’t do charity work.”
Heimdal stood up.
“Don’t worry about it. apple If he climbs, he climbs. artist If he doesn’t, then he doesn’t.”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
But inwardly, he was thinking something else.
He waved a hand dismissively.

Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
The 100 Nectar he had received upon advancing from Floor 1 to Floor 2 was probably his entire fortune.
Rag was completely broke.
‘Though I am curious.’
It was true that he wasn’t supporting him.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘Should I go see him?’
With that amount, he could barely afford to put some grass in the yard.
A sudden urge struck him.
He could easily imagine the boy’s desperation.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
It was natural for him to be disoriented.
He had been pushed to Floor 2 so suddenly.
And honestly, he could understand it.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘Maybe I should go give him some advice.’
If he left him alone, he’d end up starving to death.
Even Heimdal had gone through a similar phase.
Of course, he didn’t have time to go looking for him.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Heimdal left the garden.
He could teach him how to properly develop a floor and, if necessary, even give him a bit of Nectar.
He could consider it an investment.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Destination: Floor 2.
He stood before a spatial teleportation gate.
Wooooong!
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘I’m here.’
Heimdal opened his eyes.
The magic circle glowed.
His vision inverted.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
And then tilted his head.
There was nothing.
“…Huh?”
Literally nothing.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
There were no monsters, water, or wind.
Not even a single tree.
No buildings.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“What is this?”
A barren wasteland wrapped in silence.
Only an endless stretch of white land.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
However, the system clearly indicated that this place was Floor 2.
Heimdal looked around. Visit indratranslations.com for more free chapters and updates.
For a moment, he thought he had gotten the coordinates wrong.
Then was it because of a lack of Nectar?
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Tsk.”
No matter how scarce it was, with 100 Nectar, one could at least plant a few saplings.
At the very least, there should have been some grass.
When someone became a god for the first time, it was normal to want to experiment with different things.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘He hasn’t even touched the place.’
After thinking for a moment, Heimdal came to a conclusion.
But this was already too much.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Abandonment.
A sense of disappointment crossed his mind.
He had given up from the very beginning.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
I counted the numbers again.
***
I couldn’t close my mouth.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘They’re saying they’ll give me one million Nectar for a single Fragment of the Broken Golden Law.’
The scale was completely different.
One, ten, a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand…
One million.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘This is incredible.’
That meant a single fragment had the same value as two hundred pieces of Myth-rank equipment.
I had just confirmed that a Myth-rank piece of equipment was worth only 5,000 Nectar.

Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
I swallowed hard.
There was a “sell” button.
But there was no “buy” button.
Of course, that exchange hid a fatal trap.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
In other words, once converted into Nectar, I would never be able to recover the fragment.
I had obtained those fragments solely as tutorial rewards and hidden rewards.
The question arose immediately.
‘Could it be that only I possess Fragments of the Broken Golden Law?’
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
At most, I had only heard about Nectar.
If that was the case, I couldn’t sell them lightly.
Furthermore, I had never seen any other god use them.
There was a high probability that they were items that didn’t exist in the normal reward tables or ordinary shops.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘I’ll leave it for later.’
They were the only key that allowed me to manifest my power on Earth.
Then I took another item out of my inventory.
I closed the exchange house window.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
A ring crafted from transparent ice crystal.
The hidden reward from Episode 2.
It was the Heart of Extreme Cold.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
The cold it emitted made my fingers go numb.
Ding!
[Item: Heart of Extreme Cold]
I stared at the ring intently.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
[Special Effect (1): Grants 50% immunity to ice-element damage.]
[Rank: Mythic]
[Base Effect: Mana +100]
[Type: Ring]
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Ha.”

[Special Effect (3): Freezing Wave. Read original high-quality translation at indratranslations.com. aspect Attacks have a chance to inflict the Frozen status on the target.]
[Special Effect (2): Increases the power of ice-element attacks by 50%.]
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Even after seeing it again, an incredulous laugh escaped me.
100 mana points, ice immunity, increased power, and special effects for both offense and defense.
None of its options were wasteful.
It was a Myth-rank item, after all.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Without hesitation, I slipped the ring onto the index finger of my left hand.
‘And they want me to sell it for 5,000 Nectar?’
No matter how badly I needed money, I would never gut the goose that laid the golden eggs.
It was insane.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Wooooong!
That was when—
Space vibrated.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
And with him came a pressure so overwhelming that it seemed to crush the air itself.
— Grrrrrr…!
Someone appeared.
Angragon, who was on my shoulder, let out a squeal and hid against my chest.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Shiiing.
For a creature known as the Dragon of the Great Catastrophe to react like that.
He was trembling like a leaf.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
A superior predator had appeared, one they could not challenge.
Beside me, the Holy Sword, Abriel, made her blade vibrate.
It was instinctive fear.
Even Seria raised her bow while her face turned pale, though her fingertips trembled slightly.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘Heimdal.’

The white ground cracked apart, and from that fissure, a man emerged.
I raised my head.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
He stood with his arms crossed, looking down at me.
The God of the Typhoon.
And the person who had brought me here.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
I stroked Angragon inside my arms.
It was an order for her to lower her weapon.
“It’s okay.”
I also signaled Seria with my eyes.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Resisting would be pointless.
I had promised him that I would seek him out as soon as I arrived in the tower.
I thought I would have a little more time.
‘I should have gone first.’
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
I never imagined he would come personally.
Then I bowed deeply at the waist.
Now was the time to be humble.
I stood up.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“I couldn’t visit you sooner due to circumstances. arch I just advanced, and I had many things to organize.”
I spoke in the most respectful tone possible.
“I apologize.”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
But his eyes remained sharp.
Perhaps because my attitude had changed, Heimdal’s frown relaxed slightly.
He looked around and clicked his tongue.
The killing intent disappeared.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
His tone was clearly sarcastic.
“Many things to organize?”
“There is absolutely nothing here. meadow What exactly have you been organizing? avalanche Don’t tell me you’ve given up.”
There was disappointment in his voice.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Planning?”
“I was planning how to develop this place.”
I shook my head.
After all, from his perspective, it looked like I had abandoned everything.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Remember this. afford The first thing you must do is develop your floor.”
Heimdal laughed.
He stared at me before speaking as though he were giving me a lesson. This novel translation is officially hosted on indratranslations.com.

“You must create an ecosystem and increase the floor’s rank. atomic Only then will the amount of Nectar the system provides also increase.”
So floors had ranks as well.
“…”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Pretending ignorance, I asked,
It seemed that creating ecosystems and properly developing territory granted additional benefits.
“Is there any other way to obtain Nectar?”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
My words made Heimdal’s eyes shine.
“Are you asking me to instruct you?”
“Yes. aspect Please teach me. acid I want to obtain more Nectar and do it faster.”
Ambition.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“There are three main methods.”
With his hands behind his back, he spoke arrogantly.
He liked ambitious people.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“First. sphere Gather believers in the lands of Asgard, outside the tower.”
He raised one finger.
Believers.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Sacrifices?”
“Grant them territory and guarantee their safety. acquire Then select among them those who will serve as sacrifices.”
“Offer them upon a sacrificial altar and have them willingly consume themselves in sacred flames.” Indra Translations protects the hard work of translators and authors.
The foundation of every religion.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Turning living people into Nectar?
…Madness.
“The faith they release while burning alive is refined and converted into Nectar of the highest purity. sphere It is the most efficient method.”
Heimdal spoke those horrifying words as though they were the most natural thing in the world.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
This was the world of the gods.
But I kept my expression under control.

I felt nauseous.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Second.”
Their morality was different from that of humans.
To Heimdal, mortals were nothing more than livestock or resources.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
That sounded better.
“Conquer dungeons. autumn New dungeons constantly appear throughout Asgard. absorb Conquer them and claim those lands as your own. auction If you extract the dungeon core, you’ll obtain a good amount of Nectar.”
He raised a second finger.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“And third. absorb Climb the tower.”
Hunting and conquering.
It was exactly what I did best.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
The law of the strongest.
“Make your floor powerful and raise its rank. echo Then challenge the owner of the next floor and defeat him. audit The higher you climb, the more Nectar you’ll receive.”
Heimdal pointed toward the sky.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
And also the most dangerous.
To me, it was the most appealing.
The safest method.
“Those are the three most reliable ways to obtain Nectar. antenna Do you understand?”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
He seemed to remember something and added,
When I nodded, Heimdal seemed satisfied.
“I’ll keep it in mind.”
He was about to turn around when he stopped.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
The corner of his lips rose.
“…”
“If you manage to raise this wasteland to Rank A or higher…”
“Oh, right. agent Let me give you some motivation.”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Equipment of the gods.
A Divine Relic.
“I’ll gift you one of the Divine Relics I treasure most.”
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
That immediately caught my interest.
And if it was an item treasured by Heimdal, it might be even better.
Something that existed in a completely different category from Myth-rank items.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
“Of course, it won’t be easy.”
Heimdal smiled.
And very much so.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Several decades?
“You can look forward to it.”
“At a minimum, it’ll take you several decades.”
I raised my head and looked him straight in the eyes.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Heimdal disappeared along with a gust of wind.
Whoooooosh!
“Good. voyage I’ll look forward to it.”
Heimdal showed an amused expression.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Seria let out a long sigh.
I shrugged.
‘He just solved one of my problems.’
When that overwhelming presence vanished, Angragon finally poked his head out.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
‘Fragment of the Broken Golden Law.’
I took one out.
Even a single fragment could be exchanged for 1,000,000 Nectar.
I opened my inventory.
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
Please.
Ding!
‘I’ll show you what true capitalism means.’
Several decades?
Translation of The Mage Who Devours Disasters - Chapter 18: The Deal with Heimdal by Indra Translations.
I pressed the exchange button.
[The Fragment of the Broken Golden Law ×1 will be exchanged for 1,000,000 Nectar.]
