Surviving in an RPG Maker Horror Game Chapter 6: Gym Uniform

Chapter 6: Gym Uniform

‘This‍ is it.’

The teachers’ lounge wasn’t‌‍ far from the‌‌ main entrance hall,‍ so I arrived‍‍ quickly.

Taking‌‍ care not to‍‌ alert the guard,‍ I hid near the door. Just as I was about to enter,‍‌ I noticed a box placed by the entrance.

Its bright design and‍ bold font drew my attention.

[Lost‍ and Found]

If‌ you lost something,‌‍ come here to pick it up.

It was a box‍‍ meant for that purpose—or so the sign said. The‌ “lost and found” box was completely‌ open.

I peeked inside. It‍ was full of‌ trash—broken pencils, old‍‍ erasers, even wrappers.

Empty‌ snack bags, cigarette butts.

Although‍‍ labeled “lost and found,” it seemed‍ students used it‍ as a makeshift‌ trash can.

Makes‍ sense. Who would‌‌‌ leave valuables like‌‍ wallets or iPads out in the open? Whoever found them first would‍‌ just keep them—and‍ no one would‌‌ bring something like‍ that here.

‘Nothing‍‌ useful.’

I rummaged through the trash-filled box. There‍‌ was nothing worthy‍‍ of calling an‍ object.

Just‍ as I was‌ about to look‌ away, something glinted‌ between a bulgogi snack bag and‌ a malt drink pouch.

[…There is something inside.]‌

I tore open the‍ drink bag and‌ checked inside.

It was a small‌ baby-bottle-style container.

[You‌‍‍ have obtained Ink.]‍‌

‘Oh.’‍

An‍ unexpected find.

Obtaining‍ ink meant I could now save‌ progress.

[Ink]

【Red ink. Used for writing in the‌‌ diary.】

I pulled out the diary immediately.

I’d‌ better take advantage‌ of this and‍ save now.

‘Otherwise‍ I’ll have to‍‍ start from the‍ beginning.’

If I died because‌‍ I tried to conserve ink and‍‌ had to redo‍‍ the whole romantic‍‍ closet scene with the guard from‌ scratch…

I’d‌ rather die than go through that‍‍‌ again. The guard’s‍ mocking smile flashed through my mind.‌

I never wanted to‌ see it again.‍‌

[Would‌ you like to record your journey‍ so far?]

I used the diary‍ without hesitation. The ink spilled out at once.

‘Ugh.’‌‍

They could’ve at least‍‍ warned me it would happen like‌ this. The ink trickled down my palm.

Because‌ it was red,‌‌ it reminded me‌‍ of blood.

‘Did it have to‍ be red—red of‌ all colors?’

It‍ gave me bad‌‌ vibes. I wanted‌ to wash it‌‌‍ off immediately, but‍‌ there was no‍‍ bathroom nearby.

As‍ a temporary solution, I rubbed the‌‌ ink onto the‍‌ wall. The white‍ wall turned red.‌

Now it looked like real blood.

[Your journey has been recorded.]

The diary was now fully stained with‍ ink.

I carefully opened the‌‍ first page. The‍‍ previous content had‍ vanished, completely stained red.

I turned to the next page. A number in red‌ ink appeared.

[6:37]

Had‍ about six minutes passed since the‍‍ start?

If I opened my‍ eyes in the classroom at midnight,‌ the current time‍‍ should be around 12:06 AM.

‘Only‌ six minutes have passed?’

Given how my body‍‍ felt, it seemed‌ like I’d been‍‌‌ running from the‍‌ guard for five‌‌ hours.

Now‌ that I thought about it, paused time didn’t count.‌‍

That‍ was why time‍‌ felt so slow,‌‍ yet the constant‍ tension made it‌ feel eternal.

I dreaded the idea‍ of being trapped‌ forever in this same stretch of‌ time at school.‍

‘Get the key and‌‌‌ get out already…’‌

I pushed aside those‌‌‌ dark thoughts and‍ pushed open the teachers’ lounge door.‍

But‌ it didn’t open.‍‍

— Clack clack.

No matter how hard‍ I pushed, it‌ wouldn’t budge.

‘…What?’

I checked the handle‍ urgently. There was‍‍ a small note‌ on the knob:‍

[Pull]

“Oh.”‍

— Creak.

I entered the teachers’ lounge, a bit‍ embarrassed.

‘This‍ is something you’d‌ only know if‍ you came here‌ often…’

My school life was‌‌‍ far from that of model students,‍‌ who came and‍‌ went from the‌ teachers’ lounge regularly.‍

I spent classes sleeping‍‍ soundly, so I barely knew the school layout.
Maybe that’s why‌ the teachers’ lounge‌ felt so foreign‌ to me.

It‍ was much larger‍ than I’d expected.‌
A row of‌ desks with computers‌ stretched out neatly.‍‍

If‌‍ you only looked‌ at this room,‌‍ it seemed more‍ like an office‌ than a school.

The atmosphere felt distinctly‌ professional.
So different from the classrooms that‌ it felt suffocating.‍

I realized how the‍ same building could feel completely different‍ depending on the‌ environment.

As I scanned the‍ room, I noticed a computer. Even‍ past midnight, the‍‌ monitor was still‍ on.

‘Did‌ they forget to turn it off‌ when they left?’

Curious,‌‍‍ I approached. And then I couldn’t‌ believe what I heard.

Tac‌‍ tac.

Click.‌

The‍ sound of typing‌‌ and mouse clicks alternated. It came directly from the‍ computer.

But‌‌ no one was sitting at the‍‍ desk. The computer‌ was typing by‌‍ itself.

Tac‌ tac tac tac. Tac tac.

A word processor was‍ open, and it‍‌ typed away.

I spun around immediately.‌

Trying‌ to act natural,‌ I stepped away from the possessed‌‍‌ computer.

Whistling‌ nonchalantly, I walked‌‌‍ away.

Now I had another‌‌ reason to find‌‌ that key and‍‍‌ get out as‌ fast as I could.

[It’s‍ a desk with a computer. It’s‌ cluttered with textbooks‍‍ and handouts.]

[It’s a bookshelf as‌‌ tall as a person. It’s filled‌ with textbooks neatly‍ organized by subject.]‍‍‍

[It’s a printer. It seems broken.]

I registered everything I could see.

I interacted with everything‌‌ I could.

Meanwhile,‍ the computer continued‌ typing enthusiastically.

‘Damn‍ that noise.’

Tac‌ tac tac. Tac.‌‌

Tac‍‌ tac tac tac.‍‍ Tac.

Did‍‌‍ they use a mechanical keyboard in an office? The‍ noise was drilling into my ears.‌‍

I was about to‍‌ smash that keyboard‌ to pieces… but I didn’t know what kind of‌ chaos that might‌ trigger.

I forced myself to‌ hold back. I had to find the key to‌ get away from‍ that damned racket.

I emptied drawers until‌ they were upside‌ down.

I had already scanned‍‌ nearly half the‍ teachers’ lounge, but found neither a key nor anything‍ useful.

This‍ time had to be different, I thought, and I turned to check‌‌ the P.E. teacher’s‌ desk.

‘Ugh.’‌

What‍ is this, a desk or a pigsty?

I frowned. Not only‍ were there papers strewn everywhere, but‍ garbage piled on‌ top.

Even‍ half-eaten food lay‌‍‍ around.

It looked like the‌ desk of someone‌ who’d never cleaned‌ a day in‍ their life.

‘Should‍ I just leave‌ it…?’

I had no desire‌ to sift through it. I was‌‌‌ already backing away‌ when something glinted under the desk.‍‍

Looking closely, I saw‍ a box hidden‌‍‍ in the mess.‍‍

‘An‌ item?’

It‌‍ was so deeply‍‍ buried I almost missed it.

I reached under the‌ desk and pulled out the box.‌ I had to‍‌ fight through piles‌ of paper and trash to retrieve‍‍‍ it. It was agony.

What could be inside‌ that warrant hiding‍ it like this?‍‌

‘It must be the‍‌ key, right?’

My‍ expectations skyrocketed. I swallowed hard and opened the box‍ carefully.

[You‍‍‌ have obtained a gym uniform.]

Huh?‌

A gym uniform? My‍‌ brain stopped for‌ a moment.

I thought maybe I had missed something,‌‌ so I checked‌ the box again. But it was‌ empty.

Instead‍‍ of a key,‍ there was just‌ a random gym‍ uniform.

Judging‌ by the material‍ and cut, it‌‍‌ was a completely‌‍ ordinary P.E. uniform.

I had no idea‍ what it was‍‌ for. Was it‌‍ meant to make‌ running more comfortable‌ than the regular‌‌ uniform?

It‌ felt too suspicious‍ to be a random detail inserted for me.

Had‍‌ it even been‍‍‌ washed? I sniffed it cautiously.

It carried a faint odor of sweat.‌‌ Clearly someone had‌‌ worn it.

Since‍‍ it came from‍‌ the teacher’s desk, I assumed it‍‌ was his. And‍‌ the thought of‌ wearing it, knowing‍ it had touched‌ his skin, made‌‌ me nauseous.

But‌‌ then again, it‍ was far too small for him‌ to wear.

So‍ who did it‌ belong to? I sniffed it again,‌‌ trying to figure‍‍ it out.

It definitely wasn’t new.‌ And that sweaty‍‌ smell wasn’t unpleasant…‌‌‌ in fact, it‌ was kind of fragrant.

It‌ was a hard‌‍‍ scent to describe.‌

‘What‌‌ if I open the item window?’‍

While sniffing the uniform,‍ I opened its‍ description.

[Gym‍ Uniform]

【A standard gym uniform. Girls’ size only. Still retains a bit of its‌ scent.】

…Wait a second.

I instantly pulled the‍ uniform away from‍ my face.

I stared at the description in disbelief.

‘For‌ girl?’

Now‍ that I looked‍‌ closely, the size‌‍ was clearly feminine.‍

And‌ it also had‌‍ a name tag‍‌ sewn onto the‍‌ chest.

[Jin Dayeon]

…You again.

A name so familiar‌‌ it almost felt‌ close. The same girl who had‍ lent me her recorder in class.‌

Turns‍ out the uniform‍‍ I’d just been‌ sniffing belonged to‌ a classmate.

‘I‌ look like a total pervert.’

I just wanted to check if it was clean or‌‌‌ not. If I had known it‌ was hers, I would’ve never sniffed it.

…Seriously.

So it wasn’t my fault.

If‍ you really think‍ about it, Jin Dayeon was the‌ one at fault‍‌ for not taking better care of‌ her uniform.

‘But… why was her‌ uniform in the‍‍ teacher’s desk?’

I started thinking. And‌‍ suddenly felt a chill inside.

‘Shit…!’‍

No wonder it had been hidden so well. It hit me like a hammer to the‍ head.

I immediately stashed the‍‍‍ uniform in my inventory.

It‍‍ was to return it to Jin‌ Dayeon.

There‍ was no malicious intent behind it.‌

…Really.‌

Anyway,‍ that wrapped up‍ the desk search.‌‍ I didn’t find‌‍‌ the key, but‌ I did discover something I hadn’t known.

I never would’ve imagined‌ the teacher was‍‍‌ that kind of‌ guy. Though honestly,‍‌ just from looking at his face,‌ he already seemed the type.

I swore that if‌‍ I managed to‌‍ escape the school,‌‍ I’d gather evidence‍ and report him‌‌ immediately.

But still—where the hell‍ was the key?‌

I’d‍ checked every teacher’s desk and found‌ nothing. It must be somewhere else.‍

Oh‍ well. With a sigh of resignation,‍‍ I headed back‌‍ toward the teachers’ lounge entrance.

And‌ then, I spotted‍ a small locker‌‌‍ mounted next to‍ the door.

Large letters were printed‍ across its surface.

[Emergency‍ Spare Key Locker]

“Ah.”‍‍

There it was. The‌ key.

When I came in,‍ the angle had hidden it completely, so I’d missed it.

And‍ there I was,‌ clueless, wasting all‌‌‍ that effort searching.‌

I gave myself a knock on the‌‍ head. I’d almost walked away empty-handed.‍

But‌ hey, at least I found it.‌ Relieved, I tried to open the‌‍ key locker.

But‌ it didn’t open.‍‌

Of‌ course, it had‌ a lock. One‌‌ of those keypad-style ones where you have to enter a password.

Damn‍ it.

Honestly,‍ I suspected as‌ much. In a horror RPG Maker‍ game full of ridiculous stuff like‍‌ this, they weren’t‌‌ about to hand‌ you a key‌ so easily.

Now what kind of “creative and original”‍‌ puzzle would they‌ throw at me‌ this time?

I was so excited‌ I could die.‍‌‍

While‌ looking around for‌ something that might‍ offer a clue,‍‌‌ I found a small note just‍ under the locker.‌‌‌

[The password is on‍‍‍ the computer!]

On‍ the computer?

I turned my gaze.‍

Tac‍‍ tac tac tac.

Tac‌‍‌ tac.

Tac‍ tac tac tac.‌

That‍‍‍ same computer that‌ had been typing on its own‍ was still going‌ strong.

It‍ had to be‍ that one.

I really didn’t want to get close.‍

But if I wanted‌ the password, I had no choice.‌

Reluctantly, I walked toward‌ it.

Tac‌‌ tac tac tac.‍

Tac tac.

Tac‍ tac tac tac.

The closer I got,‌ the louder the‍ typing seemed. At this rate, I was going to‍‍ lose my mind.‌

The‌ note said the password was on‍‌ the computer. I didn’t know exactly‍ where, but I had a hunch‌ it was tied‍‍‍ to what was‍‌ being typed.

Should‌ I check the‍ monitor?

I’d‍‌ been wondering what the hell it‍ had been typing‌ so fervently ever since I got in here.

If it turned out‍‍‌ to be the‌ password for the‍‍ locker, that would‌ be perfect.

‘I’ll‍ just take a quick peek and‍‌ get out.’

I snuck up behind‍ it and looked‌ at the screen.‌

The‍ word processor was‌ filled with a single repeated sentence.‍ I carefully read the first line.‍

[If‍ all he does is hide and run, Lee Hyun‌ will die.]

That‍ was my name.‌ I read the‌‍ next line.

[If all he does‍ is hide and run, Lee Hyun‌ will die.]

And‍‍ the next.

[If‌ all he does‍ is hide and‌ run, Lee Hyun will die.]

And‌ another.

[If‍ all he does‌ is hide and run, Lee Hyun‍ will die.]

It‍ was the same thing over and‍‍ over.

[If all he does‍‍ is hide and‍‍‌ run, Lee Hyun‌ will die.]

[If all he does is hide and‌ run, Lee Hyun will die.]

[If all he does‌ is hide and‌‌ run, Lee Hyun will die.]

[If‍ all he does‍ is hide and‍‍ run, Lee Hyun‍ will die.]

[If‌‍ all he does‍‍ is hide and‍ run, Lee Hyun will die.]

[If‍ all he does‍ is hide and run, Lee Hyun‌ will die.]

Crack

[You have died.]

[Restarting‌ from the last save point.]
